Mike Ribeiro

If your not excited for Mike Ribeiro to join the Capitals, hopefully this small article will change your mind about watching him this upcoming season.

For those of you who don’t know who and what Mike Ribeiro is capable of on the ice, you are missing out on a hockey fans dream and a goal tenders nightmare. This guy is scary good, and has some of the best moves I’ve ever seen any hockey player perform on the ice.

Ribeiro was drafted 45th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2nd round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft after spending time in the AHL. Mike was called up to play with the Canadiens in the 2000-2001 season and played with them for 4 more years before being traded to the Dallas Stars on September 30th, 2006.

In Dallas, Mike Ribeiro’s “star” surely shined as he became an absolute blazer on the ice and looked unstoppable at times when his number was called. Mike is known for his crazy personality and his “not so much” hockey looks. He’s the type of guy that you walk down the street and say “wow, what a fake me out gangsta”. Recently, new head coach Adam Oates was finally introduced to the centre and was quoted as saying “he’s a lot skinnier than I thought he was. He looks like a rapper”.

Along with his outlandish playing style he is also a joy to watch when it comes to shootouts. If you haven’t seen this guy make the goalie look like his jock strap is laying beside him, you need to Youtube his shootouts and enjoy because you’re in for a treat!

Here are 2 examples….but there are plenty more

I’m really excited to see Mike suit up for the red, white and blue and pull of that same magic that he pulled off in Dallas!
