John’s Byrne’ing Hot Picks

Because for some reason I picked against my beloved Redskins and the the Giants line wasn’t at +2.5 when I picked them, I ended up at 6-9 for week 4 instead of 8-7 which brings my combined record to 30-33 or 48%.

I have some stone cold locks for this week so hopefully everything plays out as expected and I have a good week.

Cardinals @ Rams +2

The best stat of the week: In the last 10 games the Cardinals are a league best 9-1.  They somehow continue to roll and become one of the best stories of the year.

Falcons @ Redskins +3

It worked last week in the form of a victory and I am willing to risk that this week.  I’m picking against the Skins for the second week in row.  I am unconvinced that our defense can stand up to the Falcons potent offense that has dismantled teams weekly.

Eagles @ Steelers -3.5

I am taking the Steelers off the bye week to claim themselves as the best team in Pennsylvania.  The Eagles O-line is banged up and Vick will get rattled by the Steelers relentless D.

Packers @ Colts -7

I like Aaron Rodgers to have his breakout game of the year at Lucas Oil and give Luck his “Welcome to the NFL” beatdown in one of my two locks of the week.  This could also be a trap game, I feel like if it was week 1 the spread would be around -14.

Browns @ Giants -8.5

The Browns showed up against the Ravens and kept the game fairly close.  Trent Richardson is looking better and better every week and almost every game they’ve played has been close.  In my upset of the week I have the..

Dolphins @ Bengals -3.5

Bengals won it for me last week as my lock pick and I am going to keep riding them out.  AJ Green shows the miserable Dolphins secondary that his game against the Redskins wasn’t a fluke.

Ravens at Chiefs -6.5

Chiefs have to wait another week to play a close game against the Bucs.  Like 3 of the first 4 games the Chiefs get their doors blown off.  This actually makes you realize how bad the Saints actually are (Chiefs only win).

Seahawks @ Panthers -3

Cam played exceptionally well against a very good Falcons team besides fumbling in the 4th and costing the Panthers the W.  Seahawks have to travel across the US to take a beating in a close one.

Bears @ Jaguars +6

How can the D play so well against Dallas and only be favored by 6 against a dismal Jaguars organization.  Second lock of the week:

Titans @ Vikings -6

With Locker holding a clipboard for the whole game, the two top 10 QB draft picks of 2011 will not get to face off in the Metrodome.  Matt Hasselbeck plays inspired football as he realizes this is probably one of his last starts of his NFL career.

Broncos @ Patriots -7

Another Manning vs. Brady classic. Brady has owned Manning in Foxboro all but one time, this of course is when Peyton had a very bad defense in Indy.  I like the Broncos D to keep them in the game.

Bills @ 49ers -10

The Bills could only play one good half of football last week which resulted in the Patriots scoring on 7 consecutive drives after the Bills took the lead into the half.  The Harbaugh offense isn’t as good as Belichik’s but his D is 10x better.

49ERS -10

Chargers @ Saints -3.5

This is the biggest spread favoring an 0-4 team ever.  I still think the Saints are laughable.

Jets @ Texans -9

Jets next home game: “WE WANT TE-BOW,” “WE WANT TE-BOW.”
