Adidas’ latest commercial has the Redskins’ Robert Griffin III saying “blow it all up…because all that matters is what you do next.”
I love the sentiment of this commercial. Essentially he is saying it doesn’t matter what you have done in the past, what matters is what you do in the future. It doesn’t matter that Griffin took the league by storm, won rookie of the year, or lead the Redskins to winning the NFC East championship and to the playoffs. I like that he is not going to dwell on what he has already done and focus on what is next.
At the very end of the video, the tag line is “all in for week 1″.
This ad should put Redskins fans through the entire range of emotions. Excitement, thinking about having RGIII back for week 1. Pride, knowing your quarterback is a legit leader and is going to do everything he can to get back out on the field. Sadness, just being reminded of his injury. Happy thoughts that he will make a full recovery. And of course, fear. As a DC sports fan, all I can think about when I hear how hard Robert is pushing his surgically repaired knee is this. I know he is under watchful eyes, I just can’t help but have that thought somewhere in the back of my mind.
With that being said, the video is awesome and it is great for motivational purposes. It made me want to get up and go run laps or workout. Let’s just hope that Griffin has a speedy, and more importantly, full recovery whether or not he is back by week 1 or mid-season next year.
And this is a comforting tweet from RGIII to help quell some of those fears:
