John’s Byrne’ing hot picks

Nice turnaround from a dismal week 1, going 9-7 in week 2.

Would have been 9-6-1 if the picks were made later in the week because of the adjusted Giants line (-7.5) to (-7).  The two combined weeks make me an even 16-16 for the year.  After the first two weeks a record 20 teams are 1-1, so that is me justifying my .500 record to date.

For this week’s picks:

Giants @ Panthers +1.5

Just like his brother on Monday night Eli started his week 2 game off very poorly.  The difference- Eli then came back and had one of the greatest passing performances of all time, throwing for 510 yards.  In what seems like it will be a high scoring primetime affair, I have the…

Bengals @ Redskins (-3)

For the first home game of the year I feel like the fans are going to be pumped up for RGIII’s debut at FedEx Field amidst the special teams woes and the question to who will be calling the defensive plays.  I’m a sucker for the home team.

Rams @ Bears (-7)

Although the Redskins made Danny Amendola look like a hall of famer, the Rams running game was also good.  I think the Rams D gets to Cutler early and he goes back to being the immature cry baby we are all used to seeing.

Bills @ Browns +3

From second string to 364 total yards in 2 games, CJ Spiller continues to dominate.  Trent Richardson also has a big game but the visiting team ekes out a win.

Bucs @ Cowboys (-7)

The Cowboys first game at home will be a test against the Bucs.  Both teams have faced the Giants and one looked a lot better than the other.

Lions @ Titans +3.5

Calvin Johnson gets his first touchdown of the year as the Lions roll the Titans.

LIONS -3.5

Jaguars @ Colts (-3)

Colts continue to win as the Jaguars continue to start the league’s worst QB Gabbert (30-58) 313 yards in 2 games.

Jets @ Dolphins +2.5

Do the Jets dare run Tebow against the team that revolutionized the Wildcat?  Yes, and they win against their division foe.

JETS -2.5

49ers @ Vikings +7.5

Christian Ponder leads the league in completion percentage.  Because what we’ve seen with the replacement refs hooking up the home teams, I like the home dogs catching points this week.

Chiefs @ Saints (-9)

If Drew Brees doesn’t throw for 400 and 3 touchdowns in the dome against the Cheifs after starting 0-2 the fans will be start mumbling Chase Daniels name.

Eagles @ Cardinals +4

The refs notice that the Eagles corners were getting away with holding and pass interference every snap against the Ravens and the Cardinals get calls.  Kevin Kolb teaches up the Cards D on what the Eagles like to run.  I like the Cards getting the points in my upset of the week.

Falcons @ Chargers (-3)

The Chargers have won their first two games by an average of 18 points but the Falcons looked like one of the best teams in the league last Monday night.

Texans @ Broncos +2

I figure this game is a toss up.  If Peyton can make better decisions early he can keep the game close but if the Texans get up early, their two headed monster at running back will carry them to victory.  I’ll take..

Steelers @ Raiders +4

Raiders looked miserable against a horrible Miami team.   The Steelers don’t have a Reggie Bush type at running  back but they won’t need one to beat Tha Raidddas (Chris Berman Voice) at the Black Hole.

Patriots @ Ravens (-3)

I think Wes Welker will get his touches and the Patriots will look like the teams of past even without Aaron Hernandez.

Packers @ Seahawks +3.5

Even though they are at home and have the 12th man or whatever, Russell Wilson is not ready to go up against the Packers D and be able to out duel Aaron Rodgers.
