Wednesday Wizards Report
When December rolls around the general public gets in the holiday mood and starts spreading holiday cheer. For us Wizards fans though, December has brought some painful times. You have to go all the way back to the 2007-2008 season to see the last time we had a winning record at this point in December. And our record was only 11-10. That is just flat out insane.
Last season of course we didn’t have basketball at this point in the year. During the 2010-2011 campaign we were 6-16 at this point in the season. The 09-10 season brought us a 7-14 record at this point and the 08-09 season had us at 4-16. And of course this year we are 3-15. So when most teams are looking ahead to the playoffs and are excited about their teams, us lowly Wizards fans are scratching our heads and starting to check out all the NBA draft sites to see who could possibly be our savior.
It seems like just yesterday that Agent Zero and company were leading us to the playoffs but that was 6 seasons ago and the pain of losing seasons almost seems like par for the course now. But there is one common denominator in this screwed up equation of losing that the Wizards have put together, and that common denominator is Ernie Grunfeld.
All of us Wizards fans should have only one thing on our Christmas lists, and that should be that the Wizards organization finally fires Ernie Grunfeld.
He has been the “mastermind” behind all of our genius moves that keep further regressing the Wizards franchise. When will Ted Leonsis finally see the light that Grunfeld keeps digging a deeper grave for Washington? Hopefully by Christmas so I can enjoy the Holidays with my family instead of pulling my hair out while watching successful NBA teams play on Christmas day and wishing that my Wizards were good enough to actually get a prime-time game.
Enough with the negativity though and let’s try to get into the Holiday spirit. Last night saw the Wiz pick up their first road win of the season in New Orleans against the Hornets. Tonight we travel to Houston to take on James Harden and the Rockets which is going to have all of the Wiz faithful sit and shake our heads at the TV that Harden is not in a Wizards uniform. See who am I kidding. It only took two sentences to get negative again, so let’s hope Santa can deliver us a huge present to the tune of axing Ernie Grunfeld.
Come on Santa!!!! Give us something to be excited about. And a Wizards team without Grunfeld at the helm would definitely have me excited.
